BSM-Japanese MLIT Approval

We are pleased to confirm that British Steamship Protection & Indemnity Association (Bermuda) Limited (BSM) has been granted approved P&I Insurer status by the Japanese MLIT.
Any Owner wishing to trade to Japanese ports will require a MLIT certificate, such certificates are valid for 12 months. In order to obtain the MLIT certificate Owners should contact the local MLIT office as soon as possible and at least 5 working days prior to the vessel’s arrival at any Japanese port.
For ships insured by BSM but Japanese water is excluded from its trading area as stated in its policy, and now intend to trade to Japan, the owner should contact BSM at least 3 weeks in advance for obtaining the Manager’s approval and issuance of relevant endorsement or new policy. Following information is required to provide:
1. Valid Certificate of Registration.
2. Valid tonnage certificate.
Certain ships may be required for condition survey before approval.
